If you're a small local business or even a one man band, you
may be
thinking, "Why do I need a website?" Perhaps your custom comes mainly
from an advert in the local paper or by word of mouth.
Now I'm not suggesting that a website is a substitute for the advert in
the
local paper, but by having your website address in the advert, you
could present your potential clients with something like the picture on
the
right.
Instead of the few words and a telephone number that your advert
displays you will be able to show numerous images of your best work or
your products.
Remember the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words." The beauty of a website is that you can have your pictures and your thousand words as well!
This allows you to communicate to your potential customers all
sorts of information that your competitors won't be able to communicate
in a
small advert. You can thus create a favourable impression of your goods
or services even before the customer has phoned or visited making it
more likely that they will select you to contact first.
The sort of things you could include in your copy could be:
When your business became established, how it has developed, its
location, the
reasons that you believe your product or service is superior to your
competitors', your aims and values, aftersales service, and any unique
advantages that make your service or product stand out from the rest.
Don't want to spend too much money initially? You don't have to. Begin with my starter package giving yourself a first presence on the web and add to this as and when you feel the cost would be justified.
Along with this page, browsing the rest of this website will
give you an idea of how a website can be used to demonstrate the
advantages
of a product, or present the case for using a service.
I have provided links to some of my websites as well as to some design
templates on the templates page of this site to enable you to look at
the different styles I've used for different sites.
