There are several different elements involved in the construction of a good website.
DESIGN
Drawing on my study of art and graphics at school, later
architectural
training, and practical experience of website design over the last 10
years, my aim is to provide simple, easy to use and clearly navigable
websites with harmonious colour themes and good proportions.
In my opinion, as a web user, there is nothing more annoying than a
page so crammed with information and links that you can't find the
piece of information you are looking for. Visitors to a business site
are not interested in fancy graphics or bells and whistles. They just
want to find the information they are seeking without having to spend
too much time looking for it.
THE CONTENT OR COPY
Writing good copy for a website requires the ability to be
able to
organise your ideas logically and to be able to set them down in a
clear, concise, and grammatically correct manner.
As well as writing the copy for the six websites I now have online, I
am a prolific writer of e-articles and have many published online. One
of my articles was featured as a spotlighted article on a
major website and was read by approximately 44,480 people in one day.
THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS
What I am not, is someone who has been on a course to learn
website
design.
My knowledge has been picked up over 10 years of evenings and weekends
spent in front of the P.C. trying out different website packages,
researching how html code and CSS works, asking questions on forums,
slogging
through various SEO (search
engine optimisation) reports, and in fact learning everything
I
needed to know about how to design, maintain, and promote a small
business website.
RESOURCES
During that time I have established the location of many varied resources. From html code checkers to the best copyright free image sites, I know where to find the right tools. I have also located a website host who provides free and cheap website hosting with an unprecedented level of support. Because I have already done all this research in relation to my own site, I can save you the trouble and cost of having to do it.
