PACKAGES & PRICING
While the price of designing & setting up your web site will of
necessity reflect your requirements - number of pages, number of
images, complexity of design, etc. - you could have your first web site
up and running for as little as £200.00.
Whether you are looking for
a simple info and contact page for your business, or a more complex
multi page layout, once we have discussed your requirements, I should
be able to offer you a fixed quotation for the work.
If the quotation is accepted, I will arrange an initial consultation on your requirements, either by phone or visit depending on the complexity of your site. You can choose to find your own web hosting service or I can arrange for you to sign up to the website hosting company that I use myself, offering, amongst other facilities, the following:
No set up fee. - 500 MB of disc space. - 250 GB monthly bandwidth. -
20
addon domains. - 20 subdomains.
Free .info domain if you pay monthly (first year only, subsequently you
are responsible for the renewal of registration fees.) Free .com .net
or .org domain if you pay yearly.
Monthly hosting fee (Paid directly
to the website host.): $2.99 per month. (about £1.50)
or yearly hosting fee: $35.99 per year (about £18.00)
Most importantly, for a cheap website host, they offer a good level of
support.
ONE-OFF COSTS (My charge): DNS transfers if you wish to transfer an existing domain name: £50.00
Once I have designed your site I
will
upload it to my test site and
you will be able to view it online and you can then phone me about any
amendments you feel are needed. (There are obviously limits on how
much time can be spent on changing the design; if too many frequent
changes are asked for I may have to apply extra fees.)
Once the design is agreed I will test it at various resolutions in the
main browsers. I will then produce a robots.txt file for your site
(controls which files spiders are allowed or not allowed to access),
create a sitemap.xml (if your site has
more than one page), and upload your pages to the website host.
I will then either arrange another visit or phone you and take you
through how to
access your control panel and show
you how to access the support desk and statistics for your website.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION (S.E.O.)
It is important to understand that having had your website designed and uploaded, does not mean that you will be able to find yourself ranking on any search engine results.
To get listed by the main search engines requires
the
implementation of S.E.O. (Search Engine
Optimisation).
No one can guarantee
any site will reach any position in the Search Engines' results as
the algorithmns that they use to rank websites are secret. There are,
however, best practises and strategies to follow which will enhance
your site's chances of ranking well.
I will have included some of the initial best practices of S.E.O. to the design of your site, but if you wish to engage my services to carry out more advanced S.E.O., or alternatively advise you on what steps you can carry out yourself, this can be arranged at an hourly rate.
SUPPORT:
For any matters relating exclusively to the website design you
can
phone me between
10am and 7pm excluding Saturday & Sunday.
For all other matters relating to your website, once it is up and
running, you will use the support
ticket facility of the web host.
If you would rather leave the monitoring and upkeep of your site to me
I can, for a fee, undertake this.
Further services such as designing additional pages, changes to an
existing site, S.E.O. advice or implimentation, registration of an add
on domain, etc. can all be quoted for on an individual basis or at an
hourly rate.
